On September 11, 2001, Praimnath was working as a vice president for Fuji Bank on the 81st floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center when American Airlines Flight 175 struck the building.

He managed to dive beneath his desk just before the aircraft crashed into the building, surviving the devastating explosion. Trapped amid the destruction, he was eventually found by fellow survivor Brian Clark, who refused to leave him behind.
