Joe Grabowski is a science communicator and educator, working to inspire the next generation of scientists and explorers. He is the founder of the non-profit Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants, which brings those on the frontlines of science, exploration, adventure and conservation, into classrooms around the world through virtual speakers and field trips. Since 2015, his organization has hosted over 5,000 live lessons, connecting over 2 million students with leading scientists and explorers from 116 countries. In 2017, Grabowski was selected as a National Geographic Emerging Explorer and shortly after became National Geographic Society’s first Education Fellow, founding their Explorer Classroom program. He’s a top 50 finalist for the Global Teacher Prize and is a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, the Royal Geographical Society and the Ocean Exploration Trust. Grabowski is a fellow of the Explorers Club and in 2025 was elected to as second term on their board of directors. An avid scuba diver since 2007, he's always looking for an excuse to sink beneath the waves.
