Leadership and Innovation in Business
Hans Vestberg

Hans Vestberg is a global business and technology leader who served as Chairman and CEO of Verizon, one of the world's largest communications companies. Today, he serves as a Special Advisor to Verizon and as a member of the Board of Directors of BlackRock, one of the world's largest investment management companies.

Originally from Sweden, Vestberg spent much of his early career at Ericsson, a global telecommunications technology company. He held leadership positions around the world before eventually becoming President and CEO of Ericsson, gaining experience working across different countries, cultures, and rapidly changing areas of technology.

Vestberg joined Verizon in 2017 and became CEO in 2018. During his leadership, he helped guide the company's expansion of 5G technology, high-speed internet, and communications networks used by millions of people and businesses. He played a major role in developing Verizon's 5G strategy and preparing the company for the next generation of connected technology.

Beyond his corporate leadership, Vestberg has been involved in international efforts exploring how technology and connectivity can improve education, healthcare, sustainability, and access to opportunity around the world.

His career offers students a unique opportunity to learn about leadership, technology, innovation, global business, and how someone from Sweden built a career that eventually led him to the highest levels of some of the world's most influential companies.
