Dr. Hendrik Hamann is a scientist, inventor, and professor whose career has focused on using artificial intelligence, machine learning, physics, and advanced computing to solve real-world problems in climate, energy, sustainability, and scientific discovery.
He is a Professor in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University and also serves as Chief AI Scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Before joining Stony Brook and Brookhaven, Dr. Hamann spent 26 years at IBM Research, where he helped lead major projects involving artificial intelligence, geospatial data, weather forecasting, energy efficiency, and climate science.
