Dr. Beth Baker is an Associate Extension Professor in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Aquaculture at Mississippi State University and serves as Assistant Director of Extension for Environmental Stewardship with the MSU Extension Service.
Her work focuses on protecting natural resources and helping communities better understand the connection between people, agriculture, wildlife, water, and the environment. Her areas of expertise include water quality, watershed conservation, conservation education, sustainable agriculture, aquatic toxicology, and the health and resilience of ecosystems that support wildlife and fisheries.
Dr. Baker works with farmers, landowners, students, educators, and communities to promote responsible environmental stewardship. Much of her work involves helping people understand practical ways to protect water, soil, wildlife habitat, and other natural resources while still meeting the needs of agriculture and local communities.
She earned her Ph.D. in Forest Resources from Mississippi State University and holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in biological sciences-related fields from St. Cloud State University.
Through her research, education, and Extension work, Dr. Baker helps turn environmental science into real-world solutions. Her career gives students an opportunity to learn how science can be used to protect ecosystems, improve water quality, support wildlife, and help communities make better decisions about the natural resources around them.
