Brendan Walker is an engineer, designer, and entrepreneur with an unusual job title: thrill engineer! He explores what makes experiences exciting and uses science, technology, and creativity to help develop rides and attractions.
Brendan began his career in aerospace engineering before moving into art and design. Today, he is the Founder Director of Studio Go Go, a London-based company that combines engineering, storytelling, and virtual reality to create interactive ride experiences. His work has included consulting for entertainment companies such as Disneyland, Merlin Entertainments, and Royal Caribbean.
His career explores fascinating questions: Why do people enjoy roller coasters? How can sound and movement make an experience more exciting? And how can virtual reality make us feel as though we are flying?
By bringing together engineering and imagination, Brendan shows students how interests in science, technology, art, and design can lead to unexpected career opportunities.
